FUFA Women’s Cup 2026: Kawempe Muslim and Kampala Queens Set for Blockbuster Final

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC and Kampala Queens FC will face off in the final of the 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup on Sunday at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, with both sides aiming to lift the trophy for the first time. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM in a final that will bring the seventh edition of the competition to a close.

The two finalists have been among the standout teams throughout this year’s tournament, producing impressive performances on their way to the showpiece event. Kawempe Muslim secured their place in a second successive final after overcoming Amus College WFC 6-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals. The Valley Warriors have enjoyed a flawless campaign so far, beginning with a 1-0 victory over Uganda Martyrs WFC before defeating Wakiso Hill WFC 2-0 in the quarter-finals. They followed that up with dominant home-and-away displays against Amus College WFC to reach the final without conceding a goal in the competition.

Kampala Queens FC, meanwhile, are set to make their maiden appearance in the FUFA Women’s Cup final. The Queens opened their campaign with a convincing 4-1 victory over She Kasese WFC before edging St Noa Girls FC 1-0 in the quarter-finals. They then produced a commanding performance over two legs against Lady Doves FC, winning 4-0 on aggregate to book their place in Sunday’s final.

With Kawempe Muslim yet to concede a goal and Kampala Queens having shipped only one throughout the tournament, Sunday’s encounter is expected to be a closely contested affair between two sides that have combined attacking quality with defensive solidity.

Kawempe Muslim head coach Ayub Khalifa believes his side is ready for the challenge and is determined to make the most of another opportunity in the final.

‘We have worked hard to reach this stage and the players understand what is at stake. We respect our opponents, but we are focused on delivering a strong performance and competing for the trophy,’ Khalifa said.

Kampala Queens head coach Firew Asefa is equally confident ahead of the club’s first appearance in the final.

‘The team has shown great character throughout the competition. Reaching the final is a special achievement, but our objective now is to finish the job and compete for the trophy,’ noted.

Kawempe Muslim will also be chasing a place in history on Sunday. Having already secured the 2025/26 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League title, the Valley Warriors have the opportunity to become the first club to complete a domestic double by winning both the league and the FUFA Women’s Cup in the same season.

The final will be officiated by FIFA referee Shamirah Nabadda, assisted by fellow FIFA referees Elizabeth Nassolo and Lydia Nantabo Wanyama. Josephine Nantongo has been appointed as the fourth official, while Rahman Kizito will serve as the referee assessor and Joan Nakambugu as the general coordinator.

Should the two teams be level at the end of normal time, extra time consisting of two periods of 15 minutes each will be played to determine the winner. If the scores remain tied after extra time, the winner of the 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup will be decided by kicks from the penalty mark.
