Joanitah Ainembabazi capped off an outstanding 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup campaign by winning both the Golden Boot and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award after inspiring Kampala Queens FC to their maiden title.
The forward scored in every match throughout the competition and played a decisive role as Kampala Queens overcame strong opposition to lift the trophy. Her consistency, composure and clinical finishing made the difference at every stage of the tournament.

Ainembabazi opened her scoring account in Kampala Queens’ 4-1 victory over She Kasese WFC before netting the winner in a 1-0 quarter-final triumph against St Noa Girls FC.
She continued her impressive form by scoring in both semi-final legs against Lady Doves FC as Kampala Queens secured a 4-0 aggregate victory to progress to the final.
In the final against Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, Ainembabazi produced the standout moment of the tournament with a spectacular overhead kick that helped seal victory and crown Kampala Queens as champions for the first time.

Speaking after receiving the individual awards, Ainembabazi credited the team effort behind her success.
‘I am grateful to my teammates, coaches and everyone who supported us during the tournament. Winning the trophy was our main target and I am happy I was able to contribute with goals in every match. Being named MVP and top scorer is special, but it is a reward for the work we put in as a team.’
Kampala Queens assistant coach Shafic Mutebi hailed the striker’s contribution throughout the competition.
‘Joanitah has been exceptional throughout the competition. We rely on her positioning, strength and speed. She always finds the right spaces and gives us a big advantage in attack. She stepped up in every important moment and was crucial to our success.’
Ainembabazi finished the tournament with five goals from five matches, becoming the competition’s leading scorer while also earning the MVP accolade. Her outstanding performances played a central role in Kampala Queens’ historic triumph and marked one of the finest individual campaigns in the 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup.
