The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has successfully conducted the draw for the seventh edition of the FUFA Women’s Cup, confirming fixtures and the competition format ahead of kickoff.
The draw was held on Monday, 13 April 2026 and broadcast live on FUFA TV, with former Crested Cranes captain Christine Wanyana serving as draw assistant under the supervision of FUFA Competitions Director Shawn Mubiru.
Wanyana underscored the significance of the competition in advancing the women’s game, noting that such opportunities were limited during her playing days.

‘This is a great platform for the growth of women’s football. We did not have such opportunities during our time, and with more teams now coming on board, I expect a highly competitive tournament,’ she said.
Shawn Mubiru, the FUFA Competitions Director, confirmed that the competition will begin with the preliminary phase involving 32 teams on 19 April 2026. He explained that clubs from the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League, FUFA Women Elite League and Regional Leagues will participate using their respective licences, while non-league teams will be issued licences to take part. He added that all matches will be played on grounds with a green surface.
He further outlined the format of the competition, stating that matches from the preliminary stage up to the round of 16 will be played as one-legged ties, with tied matches proceeding directly to kicks from the penalty mark. The 8 winners from Round Two meet the 8 returning previous Quarter-Finalists that include Amus College WFC (Cup Winners), Kampala Queens FC, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga FC, She Corporate FC, St. Noa Girls FC, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, Lady Doves FC and She Maroons FC.
Quarterfinal matches will also be one-legged but will include extra time before penalties if required.
The semifinals will be played on a home-and-away basis with the away goals rule applied, and if teams remain level after both legs, penalties will determine the winner. The final will be played at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
