FTBFWSL: Title race intensifies as Matchday 16 promises decisive clashes

The Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League returns with Matchday 16 spread across the weekend, featuring three fixtures on Saturday and three on Sunday, as teams continue their battle for positions while others fight to avoid the bottom places.

League leaders Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC face a tricky away test against Amus College WFC in a fixture that will demand both tactical discipline and control. Kawempe have recently stood out for their compact defensive structure, coordinated pressing, and ability to manage games after taking the lead. Their strength lies in controlling central areas, quickly regaining possession, and limiting opponents to low-quality chances.

Against Amus, Kawempe are expected to build through midfield with patience, using structured passing sequences to draw out the opposition before exploiting spaces in wide areas. Their full-backs Samalie Nakacwa and Amina Nakato could play a key role in providing width, while quick transitions after regaining possession may prove decisive. However, they must remain cautious of Amus’ ability to stay compact and punish lapses, especially in transition moments.

At the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, She Corporate FC host Makerere University WFC with a clear need for tactical response after being tested in their previous outing. She Corporate struggled to create enough clear-cut chances and were exposed defensively, particularly when losing possession in key areas.

Heading into this fixture, they will need to adopt a more progressive attacking approach, moving the ball forward with greater intent, increasing tempo in the final third, and committing more players into attacking positions to generate chances. Their ability to break lines through midfield and improve decision-making around the box will be crucial.

Defensively, She Corporate must show better organisation and awareness, especially in transitions. Maintaining shape after losing the ball and reducing individual errors will be key against a Makerere University side that has shown discipline and efficiency. This balance between attacking progression and defensive stability could define the outcome of the contest.

Uganda Martyrs H/S WFC take on defending champions Kampala Queens FC at St Gerald’s Ground in one of the standout fixtures of the round. Kampala Queens will be determined to respond after their recent defeat, while Uganda Martyrs will look to build on their previous result in what promises to be a competitive encounter.

On Sunday, She Maroons FC welcome Rines SS WFC to Prisons Ground. Rines will aim to build on their resilience from the previous matchday, while She Maroons will be focused on improving their position on the table.

At Mutessa II Stadium, in-form St Noa Girls FC host Olila H/S WFC. St Noa will be confident after their recent performance and will look to maintain momentum against an Olila side still searching for consistency and their first win of the campaign.

Elsewhere, Asubo Ladies FC face Lady Doves FC in a crucial fixture for teams looking to climb the table and move away from the bottom positions. With both sides eager for points, this match could play a significant role in shaping the lower end of the standings.
