Club engagement leads to revised kick-off time for 2026/27 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League

The Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League will kick off at 4:00pm across the country beginning with the 2026/27 season following stakeholder engagement between FUFA and its member clubs.

The announcement was made during the FUFA Women Leagues 2026/27 Pre-Season Workshop and 2025/26 Season Review held on Wednesday at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.

The workshop, chaired by FUFA Club Licensing Committee Chairperson Jeremiah Mugerwa, brought together CEOs from the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League and the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Elite League to review the previous season and discuss preparations for the new campaign.

Speaking at the workshop, FUFA Competitions Director Shawn Mubiru said the revised kick-off time followed requests submitted by clubs during engagements with FUFA.

‘We have been getting a number of requests from clubs for the change of match day kick-off times. This is confirmed and all matches will kick off at 4pm across the country.’

The new kick-off time replaces the previous 10:00am schedule and is expected to improve matchday operations for clubs while providing a better environment for players and supporters.

The FUFA Competitions Director also revealed that FUFA will continue engaging clubs with men’s team affiliations to explore the sharing of match venues, a move aimed at reducing operational costs for women’s clubs.

‘For women clubs that are partnering with male clubs, we will again engage them to see that they share the match day venues with these partners. That is something that is a no-brainer, but we think it is something that the male clubs can help the women clubs with and uplift them. These are some of the costs that the women clubs face.’

He described the workshop as a productive engagement that enabled clubs and FUFA to openly discuss matters affecting the women’s game ahead of the new season.

‘It was a very good engaging workshop.’

The annual pre-season workshop forms part of FUFA’s continued engagement with its member clubs, providing a platform to review the previous season, address operational challenges and agree on improvements that will strengthen the delivery of the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League and the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Elite League.
