Matchday 15 of the FUFA Women Super League promises intriguing action with six fixtures set to be played across the weekend, three on Saturday and three on Sunday.
Saturday’s action will see Olila High School WFC host Asubo Ladies FC at Olila Ground, while Kampala Queens FC take on St Noa Girls FC at MTN Omondi Stadium. In the other fixture, Rines SS WFC welcome Uganda Martyrs High School WFC at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.
The clash between Kampala Queens and St Noa Girls is expected to be one of the standout fixtures of the day, with both sides eager to secure maximum points as the league campaign intensifies.
On Sunday, the spotlight will firmly shift to Kawempe Muslim Ground where Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC host league leaders She Corporate FC in a crucial top-of-the-table clash.
Kawempe head into the encounter determined to reclaim the summit from She Corporate, who currently lead the standings with 35 points, two ahead of their rivals. The two sides have remained closely matched since the start of the season, and Sunday’s meeting could prove decisive in shaping the title race.
The timing of this fixture mirrors the first-round meeting between the two teams when Kawempe needed victory to move above She Corporate in the standings. On that occasion, the Valley Warriors delivered a commanding performance, securing a comfortable 2–0 win.Sunday’s contest therefore carries enormous significance for both sides, with the outcome likely to have major implications for their title ambitions.
Kawempe are expected to rely on their progressive attacking style of play, particularly when playing at home. Much of their build-up play is likely to pass through the midfield where Agnes Nabukenya provides versatility, linking defence to attack and combining with Dorcus Kisakye to drive the team forward. The hosts will also look to stretch the opposition through the flanks using the pace of Jovia Nakogolo and Asia Nakibuuka.
However, Kawempe’s defensive midfield area remains an area of concern as they continue to seek the stability that defined their performances earlier in the season. This is an area She Corporate may look to exploit, especially when transitioning quickly from defence to attack.
For She Corporate, their success this season has largely been built on defensive discipline and tactical patience. The leaders have often allowed opponents to enjoy possession before striking through counterattacks or capitalizing on set-piece opportunities.
They sharks are therefore likely to approach this encounter with caution, looking to absorb pressure and strike at the right moments, with the sharpness of Jesca Namanda in front of goal expected to be key.
Defensively, She Corporate will also take confidence from their impressive record, having yet to concede in the second round. The leaders have kept nine clean sheets so far this season, highlighting their defensive solidity.
Recent meetings between the two teams have also been closely contested. In their last seven encounters, Kawempe have managed one win, while She Corporate have registered two victories, with the remaining four matches ending in draws.
With the title race intensifying, Sunday’s clash promises to be one of the defining fixtures of the season.
In the other Sunday fixtures, Makerere University WFC will host She Maroons FC at Nsibirwa Playground while Lady Doves FC take on Amus College WFC at Katusabe Ground in Masindi.
