FTBFWSL: Title race resumes as She Corporate, Kawempe face stern tests on matchday 20

The Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League returns this weekend with Matchday 20 fixtures following a brief pause in league action due to last weekend’s FUFA Women’s Cup engagements. With the season entering its decisive phase, focus shifts back to the league as teams resume their campaigns with crucial fixtures across the table.

Saturday’s programme is headlined by key encounters involving the two title contenders, both facing opponents capable of influencing the direction of the race.

League leaders She Corporate FC host St. Noa Girls FC at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru in what shapes as one of the most tactically intriguing fixtures of the round. While She Corporate come into the match with momentum and the advantage at the top, they face a St. Noa side that has emerged as one of the most consistent teams in the second round.

Since the restart of the second half of the season, St. Noa Girls FC have established themselves through a clear possession-based approach, showing composure in build-up and control in midfield areas. Their ability to manage games has delivered notable results, including victories over Kampala Queens FC and a draw against Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC.

Notably, no team has completed a league double over St. Noa this season, underlining their competitiveness and resilience across both rounds. This adds further weight to the challenge facing She Corporate, who must remain tactically disciplined and efficient in both boxes.

St. Noa will look to Marion Serenge for attacking inspiration, with the Kenyan international in fine form, having scored six goals in the second round. Her movement and composure in front of goal provide a constant threat, particularly in transition moments.

For She Corporate, experience and game management will be critical. Their ability to control tempo, remain patient in possession and capitalise on key moments could determine the outcome. Navigating this fixture successfully would not only preserve their lead but also strengthen their title credentials.

At Kawempe Muslim SS Ground, second-placed Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC return home to face Rines SS WFC, seeking an immediate response following their setback in the previous round. Head coach Ayub Khalifa pointed to inefficiency in the final third as a key concern and improving conversion of chances will be central to their approach.

Kawempe are expected to assert themselves through structured attacking play, utilising width and sustained pressure to break down opposition lines. However, this fixture presents its own complexity beyond current form.

The rivalry between Kawempe and Rines, rooted in school football, often produces closely contested encounters. Regardless of league position, Rines SS WFC have consistently proven to be a difficult opponent, relying on defensive organisation and a strong collective approach.

Rines’ ability to remain compact means Kawempe will need patience, precision and improved decision-making in advanced areas. Avoiding the inefficiencies highlighted in their previous match will be crucial if they are to secure maximum points and keep pace in the title race.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Lady Doves FC host Kampala Queens FC at Katusabe Ground in a fixture that carries importance for positioning in the upper half of the table. Lady Doves will aim to build on their structured style, while Kampala Queens seek a return to consistency.

Amus College WFC take on Olila High School WFC at Amus College Stadium, with the hosts targeting continuation of recent positive results, while Olila remain focused on disciplined defensive performances.

At Wankulukuku Stadium, She Maroons FC host Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC, with the visitors aiming to build on momentum from their previous victory, while the hosts look to maximise home advantage.

Matchday 20 concludes on Sunday as Asubo Ladies FC face Makerere University WFC at Kampala Quality Ground. Makerere will aim to build on their confidence-boosting win in the previous round, while Asubo approach the fixture with urgency as they seek valuable points.
