FIFA MA Referees Course underway at FUFA Technical Centre

The FIFA Member Association (MA) Referees Course is underway at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru as Uganda continues to strengthen the capacity and performance of its match officials.

The week-long course runs until 4th September 2026, bringing together FIFA and national centre referees and assistant referees for an intensive programme focused on improving their technical, physical and decision-making abilities.

The participants are undertaking a balanced programme comprising 70% practical assessments and 30% theoretical sessions. The practical sessions focus on physical fitness, positioning and match-related decision-making while the theoretical component is aimed at enhancing technical knowledge and understanding of the Laws of the Game.

The course is being facilitated by FIFA instructor Ali Mohammed Ahmed from Somalia, alongside fitness instructor Bento Navessa Tomas from Mozambique, who is guiding the participants through the physical and fitness aspects of the programme.

The training forms part of ongoing efforts to equip Ugandan match officials with the knowledge, fitness and technical competence required to officiate at the highest level.
