The Uganda U-20 Women’s National Team, the Queen Cranes, resumed training on Wednesday afternoon at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba as they intensified preparations for the return leg against Ghana in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.
The team returned to training following their 2-1 defeat in the first leg of the final round of the African qualifiers, played at the Accra Sports Stadium last Sunday.
All players who featured in the first-leg encounter took part in an intensive training session at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba. Makerere University Women Football Club defender Hasifah Nambozo, who remained in camp during the first leg, also joined the group.
Assistant coach Ahumuza Collins expressed confidence in the team’s response and mindset ahead of the decisive home fixture.
‘The players have responded well since the first leg. The mood in camp is positive and the group is fully focused on the task ahead. The away goal we scored keeps us in the tie and we believe we are capable of completing the job at home,’ Ahumuza stated.
She highlighted the need for improved defensive organisation as a key area of focus going into the return leg.
‘Our main focus is to improve our defensive organisation. We must be compact and disciplined at home. We do not want to concede. We also call upon Ugandans to come out in large numbers and support the team,’ she added.
