Crested Cranes continue preparations ahead of Zambia Olympic qualifiers

The Crested Cranes are continuing preparations for their Olympic qualifiers against Zambia, with the technical team working on the team’s shape, organisation and players’ understanding of their roles.

The Uganda Senior Women’s National Team has been training ahead of the two-legged fixtures, with the coaching staff using the available sessions to work on different departments of the team.

Sports Scientist Nkata Moses William said the players have responded well to the training programme as the technical team works to get the squad into the desired shape.

‘Today we trained, and the ladies are responding positively to the training. The technical team is really doing its best to see that the team gets into shape in the few days we have,’ Nkata said.

He noted that particular attention has been given to departmental responsibilities, with the players being guided on their respective roles on the pitch.

‘I’m seeing a lot of improvements, especially in departments. We are trying to work on departmental responsibilities so that everyone understands their roles better. I think we shall still do it because there is more room for improvement,’ he added.

The technical team is also expecting more players to join the squad after completing their commitments with their respective teams.

Their arrival will give the coaches an opportunity to assess more options as preparations continue for the encounters with Zambia.

The Crested Cranes will face Zambia over two legs, with the aggregate result determining which team progresses in the Olympic qualification campaign.
