FUFA Drum: Lango Province reach final after edging Bunyoro Province

Lango Province have reached the FUFA Drum final after edging Bunyoro Province 1-0 on aggregate in the semi-final.

After a goalless draw in the first leg on 27th September 2026, Lango secured a 1-0 victory in the return leg played on Saturday, 3rd October 2026 to book their place in the final.

Lango Head Coach Bob Obira was pleased with the result and praised his players for responding to lessons from the first leg.

‘It feels good and we are very happy to again go to the finals. At the first game we were unlucky because we got many chances, around seven chances, but we didn’t utilise them. This time we studied them, their weaknesses and strong points.’

‘Then now we have at least gotten a win. We are going to be the winners again,’ he added.

The qualification marks Lango’s third appearance in the FUFA Drum final, having previously reached the final in 2022 and 2023/24.

In the 2022 semi-final, Lango overcame Tooro Province 3-2 on aggregate after a 2-2 draw in Fort Portal and a 1-0 victory in the return leg at Akii-Bua Stadium. Allan Okello scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot.

Lango also defeated West Nile Province 2-1 on aggregate in the 2023/24 semi-final. A 2-0 home win at Akii-Bua Stadium, with Denis Omedi scoring both goals, gave Lango the advantage before West Nile won the return leg 1-0 in Arua.

Lango will face the winner of the other semi-final between Buganda Province and Acholi Province in the final.

Buganda hosts Acholi in the second leg on Sunday, 4th October 2026. Acholi take a 2-1 aggregate advantage into the decisive encounter.
