CAF 2028 Women’s Olympic Qualifiers: Crested Cranes ready for Zambia return leg

The Uganda Senior Women’s National Team, the Crested Cranes, are ready to face Zambia’s Copper Queens in the return leg of the 2028 CAF Women’s Olympic Qualifiers on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. Kick-off is at 7:00 PM East African Time (EAT).

Uganda head into the encounter with a 2-1 advantage from the first leg played at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, last Thursday. A win or draw will see the Crested Cranes progress to the third round of the qualifiers.

The team held its final training session at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Monday as preparations concluded ahead of the decisive encounter.

Captain Shadia Nankya expressed confidence in the team’s preparations and called on Ugandans to continue supporting the side.

‘We know the importance of this game. We believe in ourselves and are ready to give our best for the country. We call upon all Ugandans to keep supporting us,’ Nankya said.

Assistant Head Coach Collins Ahumuza appreciated the support from Ugandans back home and emphasised the team’s determination to represent the country.

‘We appreciate the support from Ugandans back home. We ask them to continue believing in this team as we represent our country. We shall go into this match with determination and do everything possible to make Uganda proud,’ Ahumuza said.

The aggregate winner will advance to the third round, where they will face the winner of the tie between Mauritius and Ghana.
