Kitara FC have been crowned winners of the 2026 Stanbic Uganda Cup after a 2-1 victory over SC Villa in a closely contested final at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on 30th May 2026.
The final produced an early burst of action as SC Villa took the lead in the 10th minute through Simon Kato Ssemayange. Their advantage, however, lasted only three minutes as Kitara FC responded swiftly when Missi Diego Semugera turned the ball into his own net under pressure to level the contest at 1-1.
The match remained finely balanced going into the break, with both sides showing intent and discipline in equal measure. Kitara FC, however, made the perfect start to the second half and completed the turnaround just two minutes after the restart when Jimmy Kalema struck in the 47th minute to give the Hoima-based side the decisive advantage.
SC Villa pushed in search of an equaliser, drawing on their rich history in the competition, but Kitara FC managed the closing stages with resilience and composure to protect their lead until the final whistle.
The result hands Kitara FC their second Uganda Cup title in just two seasons, having previously lifted their maiden trophy in 2024 after a 1-0 victory over NEC FC. The achievement further strengthens their position as one of the rising forces in Ugandan football.
For SC Villa, the defeat adds another chapter to their long and decorated Uganda Cup history. The Jogoos remain one of the most successful clubs in the competition with nine titles won in 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2008–09 and 2014–15, sitting just one behind record holders Express FC and KCCA FC who have ten each.
