The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has selected Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, She Corporate FC and Kampala Queens FC for a pilot programme aimed at strengthening the commercial sustainability and professional structures of women’s football clubs.
The FUFA Women Super League Commercialization Strategy is a FIFA-supported initiative aimed at transforming women’s football clubs across the league into commercially viable, professionally managed and marketable football brands.
The strategy was launched by FUFA in February 2026 at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, with support from FIFA, bringing together stakeholders from Government, the business community, current and potential sponsors, clubs, media, players and cultural institutions.
Uganda and Romania were selected to participate in pilot editions of the FIFA Commercial Strategy Programme, with both Member Associations receiving assistance and funding from FIFA to develop bespoke approaches aimed at creating sustainable commercial women’s leagues.
The programme seeks to build commercially sustainable women’s football clubs by increasing their revenue-generation capacity, improving club branding and fan engagement, enhancing media visibility and storytelling, strengthening sponsorship readiness and professionalising club operations.
It will also create measurable commercial benchmarks that can guide a potential league-wide rollout across the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League.
The six-month pilot will focus on branding, sponsorship, media and content, matchday commercialization, fan engagement, merchandise, governance and digital transformation.
The three selected clubs will implement and test the commercial strategy within their respective club environments, providing practical insights and measurable outcomes to inform the next phase of the programme.
The pilot will run for six months, followed by a one-month review phase, a final evaluation and the development of recommendations for potential scale-up across the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League.
The initiative forms part of FIFA’s Commercial Strategy Programme, one of the programmes available to FIFA’s 211 Member Associations, which supports the development of sustainable commercial women’s leagues through tailored strategies.
