The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has received with deep sadness the news of the passing of General Moses Ali, a former FUFA President who served the Federation from 1994 to 1995.
General (Rtd) Moses Ali led the Federation during a significant period in the development of football administration in Uganda. His stewardship came at a time when the game was undergoing important institutional transition and his contribution formed part of the foundation upon which modern Ugandan football continues to grow.
Beyond football, General (Rtd) Moses Ali dedicated his life to the service of Uganda. A distinguished military officer, statesman and patriot, he served the country in various leadership positions including as Minister of Youth, Culture and Sports, where he contributed to the growth of sports during Uganda’s post-conflict reconstruction. He also served for many years as a Member of Parliament and later as Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Sports, reflecting his enduring commitment to youth development, education and sport.
FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim has conveyed condolences to the family, friends and all those who shared in General Moses Ali’s life and service.
‘It is with great sadness that we receive news of the passing of General Moses Ali, a former FUFA President (1994–1995) and a patriot. His dedication to the game laid part of the foundation we build on today. We send heartfelt condolences to his family. May God grant him eternal rest,’ said FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim.
FUFA joins the football fraternity in mourning the loss of a leader who contributed to the development of the beautiful game in Uganda.
