The Uganda U-17 Women’s National Team (Teen Cranes) secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship after a 3-0 victory over Zanzibar on Tuesday at KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The result gives Uganda six points from two matches and confirms their qualification for the last four with one Group B match still to play.

The Teen Cranes controlled proceedings for large periods of the first half and were rewarded in the 44th minute when Shadia Nabirye found the breakthrough goal after sustained attacking pressure.
Uganda continued to dominate after the restart and doubled their advantage in the 58th minute through Immaculate Acen. Justine Ayerango added the third goal in the 90th minute to complete an impressive performance and seal victory.

Head coach Sheryl Botes praised her players for their display and highlighted the significance of the performance ahead of the knockout stage.
‘It was not only about the goals today but also the performance of the players. We knew Zanzibar would be a difficult opponent because of their physical approach, but I had confidence in the players and their abilities,’ said Botes.
The Teen Cranes will conclude their Group B campaign against South Sudan on Thursday, 18 June 2026, at KMC Stadium.
