Uganda’s U-20 Men’s National Team, the Hippos, have been drawn in Group B alongside Sudan and Djibouti for the TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) CECAFA 2026 qualifiers.
The draw was conducted on Monday at the Kigali Pele Stadium in Rwanda, with nine teams placed into three groups for the zonal qualifiers.
Uganda, who finished runners-up at the previous CECAFA U-20 qualifiers, began preparations for the competition last week with the provisional squad camped at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, headed by Coach Laryea Kingston.
Hosts Tanzania are in Group A alongside Ethiopia and Rwanda, while Group C comprises South Sudan, Kenya and Burundi.
The qualifiers are scheduled for 15th–25th September 2026 at the newly renovated Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The nine teams will compete in the group stage, with the winners of each group advancing to the semi-finals alongside the best-ranked second-placed team.
The two finalists will earn qualification to represent the CECAFA region at the TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations 2026.
