International Friendly: Uganda Cranes arrive in Morocco as Leader of Delegation Rogers Mulindwa outlines objectives

FUFA Executive Committee Member and Uganda Cranes Leader of Delegation Rogers Mulindwa says the upcoming international friendly matches in Morocco will provide an important opportunity for the technical team to assess players and strengthen the national team ahead of future assignments.

The Uganda Cranes are in Marrakech, Morocco for two international friendly matches during the June 2026 FIFA international window. Uganda will face Tanzania on 5th June 2026 before taking on Madagascar on 8th June 2026.

Speaking upon arrival in Morocco, Mulindwa confirmed that the team had travelled safely and that the majority of the players were already in camp.

‘The delegation that set off from Entebbe, we safely landed in Doha and later on in Casablanca before taking that journey to Marrakech. Almost 75 percent of the players are here, while a few others will be coming in. By tomorrow we shall have everybody in camp,’ he said.

He added that the friendly matches are not taken lightly as they serve a key technical purpose for the national team.

‘We do not take friendly matches lightly. The matches are meant to help the coaches test tactics, evaluate player performance and build team chemistry,’ Mulindwa said.

He further explained the value of the matches in assessing players who do not stay together regularly.

‘Most of these players do not stay together for long. When you want to assess their capacities, how they have improved and identify areas that need attention, you must participate in such international friendlies,’ he noted.

Mulindwa also highlighted FUFA’s consistent approach to utilising FIFA international windows for national team development.

‘That is why as FUFA we always ensure we utilise these opportunities. We have consistently participated in these international friendly breaks organised under FUFA,’ he added.

Looking ahead to the two matches, Mulindwa said the camp will provide important lessons for the technical team as preparations continue for a busy calendar.

‘By the time we leave Marrakech we shall have played our two matches and the technical team will have picked important lessons,’ he said.

‘These matches are part of the build-up to a busy season in September, October and November where we shall be involved in a number of games. We are looking at all these players and seeing how best we can utilise them at the right time,’ he added.

The Uganda Cranes will play Tanzania on 5th June 2026 and Madagascar on 8th June 2026, with both fixtures scheduled in Marrakech, Morocco. Further details including kick-off times and venues will be communicated in due course.

The international friendlies are organised under the FIFA international window, allowing national teams to assemble players for official preparation matches.
