The Uganda U-20 Women’s National Team, the Queen Cranes, will face Ghana on Sunday, 3rd May 2026 at the Accra Sports Stadium in a high-stakes first leg encounter of the final round of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup African Qualifiers, as they pursue a historic qualification to the global showpiece.
Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 PM local time, which is 6:30 PM East Africa Time, with Uganda targeting a strong result away from home to strengthen their chances ahead of the return leg.
The Queen Cranes have completed their final preparations in Accra following their arrival on Friday morning, with the technical team focusing on fine-tuning both tactical and physical aspects ahead of the crucial encounter.
Speaking after the final training session at the Accra Sports Stadium, head coach Sheryl Ulanda Botes expressed confidence in her team’s readiness while acknowledging the challenge ahead.
‘We have had the feel of the actual stadium and the morale is positive. We have covered every detail to help us get a good result. We want to do this for every girl child in Uganda and for the people of Uganda,’ Botes said.
‘We know it is going to be difficult against Ghana. These are the kind of games you need to play and show character,’ she added.
Team captain Agnes Nabukenya highlighted the squad’s adaptation to the conditions in Ghana and the positive atmosphere within camp.

‘We have acclimatised to the weather and environment here in Ghana. The team is in good shape and we are fully focused on delivering a strong performance,’ she noted.
The two-legged tie will determine one of Africa’s four representatives at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026, with the return leg scheduled for Saturday, 9th May 2026 at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
