The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) successfully conducted the National Trials over the weekend, marking another important step in the federation’s commitment to structured player development across the country. A total of 80 players attended the trials.
The trials were organised with the primary objective of identifying talented players who will be integrated into the FUFA Schools of Excellence programme, with a long-term pathway leading to the National Football Academy.
The initiative is anchored within the FUFA Elite Player Development Pathway, which is guided by the FUFA Player Development Curriculum. This framework ensures that identified players receive consistent, high-quality training and holistic development in line with modern football standards.
The programme also aligns with the FUFA Technical Master Plan, a comprehensive strategy designed to streamline talent identification, nurturing and progression across all levels of the game in Uganda.
FUFA continues to implement this vision with support from the FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS), which provides technical and structural backing to enhance grassroots and elite player development systems.
