Uganda’s representatives Vipers SC and Kitara FC learn CAF interclub preliminary round opponents

Uganda’s representatives in the 2026/27 CAF interclub competitions, Vipers SC and Kitara FC, have learnt their preliminary round opponents following the draws conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday, 6 August 2026, in Cairo, Egypt.

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC will compete in the CAF Champions League and have been drawn against Mauritania’s FC Nouadhibou in the First Preliminary Round.

Should Vipers SC progress, they will face the winner between San Pedro of Côte d’Ivoire and Rivers United of Nigeria in the Second Preliminary Round, with a place in the group stage at stake.

Uganda Cup holders Kitara FC will represent the country in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup. They have been drawn against Mogadishu CC of Somalia in the First Preliminary Round.

Victory over the Somali side would see Kitara FC take on Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the Second Preliminary Round after the record African champions received a bye into that stage.

The First Preliminary Round first legs in both competitions will be played from 4–6 September, with the return legs scheduled for 11–13 September.

The Second Preliminary Round will take place from 16–18 October before the return legs are played from 23–25 October. The winners of the second-round ties will qualify for the group stages of their respective competitions.
