Kasumba Angello hat-trick headlines FUFA Academies League opening day

The FUFA Academies League officially got underway with an exciting opening round of fixtures that showcased the future of Ugandan football, as young talents expressed themselves across the Kampala and Buganda regions.

The competition, a key component of the FUFA Technical Master Plan 2023–2030, is structured to provide organised and competitive football for youth academies. It focuses on player development, talent identification and the growth of the game within a well-regulated environment.

Matchday one produced goals and competitive action across all centres, headlined by an outstanding individual performance from Kasumba Angello and was attended by the FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim.

In the Kampala region, Prosper Soccer Academy registered a commanding 6-1 victory over Proline Soccer Academy. Ssekayiba Arshad scored Proline’s lone goal in the 24th minute. Prosper responded through Uthuman Ali (45+1’), Niwagaba Danny (51’), Agenor Crispus (62’), Ssenfuka Richard (76’) and Kamuhabwa Perez (80+2’) to seal a dominant win.

KS Sparta 09 and Edgars Youth Programme played out an entertaining 2-2 draw. Wafuba Alex netted twice (14’, 62’) for KS Sparta 09, while Edgars Youth Programme replied through Kidega Vincent (43’, penalty) and Kiyimba Ramadhan (80’).

In the Buganda region, Twinbrook Soccer Academy drew 2-2 with Msingi Soccer Academy. Mulindwa Andrew (28’) and Kiyizi Jonathan (56’) scored for Twinbrook, while Msingi responded through Oguma Jerry (61’) and Muwanguzi Jonah (65’).

The standout performance of the day came from El Cambio Soccer Academy, who defeated Rays of Grace 4-1. Kasumba Angello scored a brilliant hat-trick (7’, 52’, 58’), while Ofoyrwoth Junior added another in the 50th minute. Rays of Grace got their consolation through Kiganda Ivan in the 42nd minute.
