Stanbic Uganda Cup: KCCA FC edge Mbarara City to reach round of 16 | 52nd Edition

KCCA FC progressed to the round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup following a narrow 1-0 victory over Mbarara City at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

KCCA FC began the match on the front foot, asserting themselves early with purposeful attacking play. Their efforts nearly paid off inside the opening minutes, but Mbarara City goalkeeper Emukule remained alert to deny an early opener. The visitors’ defensive resilience was tested repeatedly, particularly from set-piece situations, yet they held firm for much of the first half.

Mbarara City also threatened in spells and forced a crucial save from Mutwalibi Mugolofa midway through the half to keep the scores level at that stage.

The breakthrough eventually came in the closing moments of the first period. A well-delivered set piece into the area was met decisively by Obenchan, whose effort proved enough to separate the two sides heading into the interval.

After the restart, the match became more physical as Mbarara City pushed forward in search of an equaliser. The intensity of the contest saw several players cautioned as both teams battled for control.

Despite late pressure from the visitors, KCCA FC remained composed at the back and managed the closing stages effectively to secure victory.

The round of 32 continues on Tuesday, 24th February 202,6 as Kitara FC hosts Entebbe UPPC FC while Pajule Lions SC visits Vipers SC.
