The FUFA Drum 2019: Opening weekend; Man of the Match Award Winners

Buganda 1-0 Lango

Bukedi 3-1 Teso

The second edition of The FUFA Drum got underway over the weekend with thrilling action witnessed in the eight games played across the country.
There was an evident increase in the number of fans that thronged the several stadia to support their respective provinces.
Holders Buganda province got off to a perfect start while West Nile, Kampala and Teso provinces  fell at the first asking on the opening weekend of the  2nd edition.
Below is a look at the players that were outstanding in the eight games to emerge Man of the Match award winners, an honour that comes with a plaque and a cash prize of Ushs. 100,000/= from FUFA.
Buganda Vs Lango
Joel Mutakubwa (Buganda Province)
The goalkeeper who plays for Tooro United FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League was the difference as Buganda edged Lango in the opening game.
He made two fine saves to deny Allan Okello and Timothy Awany in the second half.

Acholi Vs Karamoja
Tito Okello (Acholi)
The lanky forward is a fans’ darling in Gulu town and did not disappoint as Acholi defeated Karamoja 2-0 at Pece Memorial stadium.
Okello who plays at Vipers SC scored one of the two goals and was eventually named Man of the Match.
Busoga Vs Tooro
Nicholas Kagaba (Tooro)
Tooro province put up a resilient performance to pick a point away against Busoga on matchday one.
Crafty midfielder Kagaba who had a brilliant performance was named Man of the match.

Bugisu Vs Kigezi

Swamadu Okur (Bugisu)

Bugisu needed extra effort to overcome Kigezi at Mbale Municipal stadium thanks to Junior Oten’s goal in the 64th minute.

Swamadu Okur walked away with the man of the match accolade.
West Nile Vs Bunyoro
Brian Ahebwa(Bunyoro)
One of the surprising results of matchday one was Bunyoro defeating  West Nile in Zombo.
Bunyoro Province player Brian Ahebwa was named Man of the Match in the match between West Nile Province and Bunyoro Province
Brian Ahebwa orchestrated the damage on West Nile scoring one of the two goals for Bunyoro.
Ankole Vs Sebei
Isaac Mweru Doka (Sebei)
Despite Sebei losing 3-2 to Ankole, it was Doka who was named the man of the match for his outstanding performance.

Bukedi Vs Teso
Derrick Emukule (Bukedi)
Goalkeeper  Emukule was fantastic on the day for Bukedi denying Teso on several occasions.

The young shot-stopper who plays for Ndejje University FC helped his team to victory against neighbours Teso.
Kampala Vs Rwenzori
Umar Mbuga Muhinzi (Rwenzori)
This was by far the most shocking result of matchday 1.
Rwenzori stunned a star-studded Kampala side with the lone goal of the game coming from Umar Mbuga Muhinzi who was named Man of the match.
