Nalugya wants to replicate club performance on Crested Cranes

Shamirah Nalugya was one of the best performers in the just concluded 2021/22 FUFA Women Super League.

The Kampala Queens attacking midfielder put in a good shift for her club and came close to winning the title only to be beaten by She Corporate FC on the final day of the season.

Nalugya scored five goals and played a huge contribution in helping the team especially going forward.

The player who is currently in camp with Crested Cranes who are preparing for the forthcoming CECAFA Senior Women Championship believes it is time to make her mark on the national team.

“I’m happy to be part of the Senior national team set up and it is an opportunity for me to impress the coaches and be able to achieve the set targets,” Nalugya stated.

“Despite not winning the League, I believe my performance was impressive at the club and my hope is that I keep the same display on the National Team.” She added.

Nalugya was part of Crested Cranes Squad that featured at the 2019 CECAFA edition and believes the team is more experienced and ready to overcome any opponent.

“I played at CECAFA in 2019, scoring one goal. I believe we are now a better team and ready to face any team.”

CECAFA Senior Women Championship 2022 will run between 1st -11th June at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

Uganda is group A alongside Rwanda, Burundi and Djibouti. The other group (B) has Tanzania, Zanzibar, South Sudan and Ethiopia.
