FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers: Teen Cranes Set for Crucial Home Test Against Kenya

The Uganda U-17 Women’s National Team, the Teen Cranes, will host Kenya on Friday, 22nd May 2026 at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba in the first leg of the second round of the African Qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Kick-off is set for 4:00 PM as Uganda aim to secure a positive home result to strengthen their chances in the tie. FUFA has confirmed free entrance for all fans for the encounter.

The Teen Cranes concluded their final preparations on Thursday, 21st May 2026, with a training session at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba. The session focused on tactical organisation, match sharpness, and overall team cohesion as the players fine-tuned details ahead of the decisive fixture.

Head coach Sheryl Ulanda Botes expressed confidence in her squad and highlighted the progress made during preparations.

‘We have worked on the key details to put the players in good shape. The atmosphere is positive,’ Botes said.

She also noted the familiarity between the two sides and the expected intensity of the contest.

‘It’s not our first time to play against Kenya, and we know what they are bringing. We know it’s going to be a competitive match, but our aim is to win,’ she added.

The winner over the two legs will advance to the next round of the African Qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The return leg will be played on Saturday, 30th May 2026 at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi. The aggregate winner will face either South Africa or Tanzania in the next phase of the qualification pathway.
