Uganda U17 Boys Football National Team coach Hamza Lutalo has expressed readiness of his charges ahead of the Zonal Qualifiers for the 2023 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
With the CECAFA Championship scheduled to start on Saturday, 1st October in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Lutalo believes the Uganda Cubs have had the best preparations prior to the tournament.
“The boys are mentally and physically ready for the tournament. Since we entered camp, the players have been improving and the several practice games played put them in the perfect shape,” he said.
The gaffer also added that getting to Ethiopia days before the tournament gets underway has helped the team to acclimatize to the weather conditions.
“The team arrived here on Sunday and this has helped the boys get used to the weather here. Therefore, we cannot wait for the games to begin.”
Uganda starts the tournament against Djibouti on Saturday, 1st October at Abebe Bikila Stadium.
The Cubs are pitted in Group B alongside Djibouti, Sudan and Burundi.
Having won the previous two editions, the ultimate target for Uganda is to be Champions in the Zonal Championship where the finalists qualify for the final tournament.
