FTBFWSL: Kawempe edge Uganda Martyrs as St Noa and She Corporate impress in Matchday Three

The Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League returned from the international break on Sunday, 18th October 2026, with six fixtures producing 13 goals. Defending champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC defeated Uganda Martyrs H/S WFC, while St Noa Girls FC and She Corporate FC registered convincing victories.

The matchday opened at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, where Makerere University WFC and KCCA Women FC played out a goalless draw. Despite both sides searching for a breakthrough, neither could find the decisive goal. Makerere’s Shabellah Abahwera was named Woman of the Match for her performance.

At St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, defending champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC edged Uganda Martyrs H/S WFC 2-1 in one of the weekend’s standout encounters.

Agnes Nabukenya scored twice to put Kawempe in control, with her second goal featuring excellent chest control before a clinical finish past goalkeeper Joan Namususi. Uganda Martyrs responded through Maureen Kizza, who pulled one back to set up a tense finish, but Kawempe held on to secure all three points.

Nabukenya’s decisive contribution earned her the Woman of the Match accolade.

Kawempe head coach Ayub Khalifa acknowledged that his side faced a difficult test but was pleased with how the team managed the contest.

‘The game wasn’t easy. Fortunately, we had a two-goal advantage at the break. The opponents returned a better team in the second half, but we later stabilised and won the game,’ Khalifa said.

He also explained that the league matches are part of Kawempe’s preparations for the CAF Women’s Champions League, scheduled for 1–15 November 2026.

‘We are using these games to prepare for the CAF Women’s Champions League. It is important for us to keep working on the team and build our readiness ahead of the tournament,’ he added.

Uganda Martyrs head coach Edward Ssozi admitted that his team did not start well but believes the second-half improvement demonstrated the side’s potential.

‘We didn’t start well in the first half, but we gradually improved as the game progressed. We could have picked up a point, but the team is on the right track,’ Ssozi said.

At Katusabe Ground in Masindi, Lady Doves FC secured their first victory of the season with a dramatic 1-0 win over URA Ladies FC. With the contest seemingly headed for a draw, Sumaya Nsisi struck in stoppage time to hand the hosts maximum points and deny URA a second consecutive victory.

Nsisi’s late winner proved decisive in the closely contested encounter, earning her the Woman of the Match accolade.

At the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, She Corporate FC registered a commanding 3-0 victory over She Maroons FC. Ruth Nyakato opened the scoring before Gillian Akandinda and Jesca Namanda added further goals to seal the win for the Sharks.

The result ended She Maroons’ unbeaten start to the campaign, having entered the encounter without conceding a goal.

Akandinda was named Woman of the Match following her contribution, while Namanda continued her impressive start to the season. The forward has now scored three goals, making her the league’s leading scorer after Matchday Three.

Rines SS WFC also celebrated their first win of the season, overcoming Amus College WFC 2-1 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.

Phiona Arach broke the deadlock in the 56th minute before Shakirah Kabagaya doubled Rines’ advantage in the 85th minute. Zabina Namboozo pulled one back for Amus in stoppage time, but Rines held on to claim maximum points.

Justine Ayerango was named Woman of the Match for her performance as Rines secured a valuable victory.

At Muteesa II Stadium, St Noa Girls FC maintained their unbeaten start with a convincing 3-0 victory over Jinja United WFC, who are still searching for their first points of the campaign.
