The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), in conjunction with CAF, has commenced the CAF B Coaching Diploma Course at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
The four-month programme, delivered in line with the Elite Football pillar of the FUFA Technical Master Plan, brings together 25 coaches drawn from clubs and academies across Uganda and is aimed at strengthening coaching standards by enhancing the knowledge, skills and competencies of coaches working at different levels of the game.
The course comprises four modules, 160 contact hours and a two-month internship. Throughout the programme, participants will undertake both theoretical and practical learning, as well as continuous assessments.
Speaking during the opening, FUFA Football Development Director Bashir Mutyaba explained that the programme is designed to equip coaches with the knowledge and skills required to deliver modern coaching.
‘The course is intended to improve and develop the capacity of coaches working at different levels of football in Uganda. It will run for four months, comprising four modules, with a total of 160 contact hours and a two-month internship,’ Mutyaba said.
He added that participants would be assessed through both theoretical and practical modules to ensure they acquire the competencies required to deliver modern coaching.
‘We believe that with the instructors appointed by CAF to conduct the programme, the student coaches will receive the right knowledge and skills needed to deliver coaching. These are experienced instructors who have delivered similar programmes before, and we are confident they will perform to the best of their ability. This will undoubtedly increase the number of qualified coaches in the country,’ he added.
The course is being delivered by CAF instructors Jackson Nyiima and Douglas Bamweyana.
