FUFA Executive Committee Member Ronnie Kalema and FUFA Deputy Chief Executive Officer Sheba Ronah Ampaire were among the invited speakers at an information session on opportunities arising from the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations held on Thursday 4th June 2026 at the American Center Kampala.
The session brought together entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises, startups and members of the public interested in understanding the business opportunities linked to the tournament that Uganda will co-host with Kenya and Tanzania.
Ronnie Kalema delivered the opening presentation where he spoke about the Africa Cup of Nations as Africa’s biggest football competition and the impact the tournament has had on previous host countries.
He explained how hosting AFCON has contributed to increased visibility, economic activity and infrastructure development in different countries across the continent.

He also spoke about the historic Pamoja bid involving Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, which will mark the first time three nations jointly host the competition.
He further shared Uganda’s ambitions for the tournament and the opportunities it presents for the country beyond football.
Sheba Ronah Ampaire later addressed participants on how entrepreneurs and businesses can position themselves to benefit from AFCON 2027.

Her presentation covered opportunities in hospitality, transport, creative industries, information and communications technology, events management, tourism and merchandising.
She also explained the supplier registration process and the documentation businesses should prepare in readiness for future opportunities.
Ampaire guided participants on how small and medium enterprises can participate through joint ventures, subcontracting arrangements and other partnership models.
She further shared information on key milestones and timelines that businesses should follow as preparations for the tournament continue.
The session also included a presentation on the operational architecture for AFCON 2027, giving participants an overview of the structures that will support the delivery of the tournament.
Uganda will co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations alongside Kenya and Tanzania under the Pamoja bid.
