FUFA has concluded inspections of prospective Schools of Excellence across Uganda as part of its Technical Master Plan and in partnership with the FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS). The initiative aims to establish structured environments to nurture elite young football players.
Speaking after the inspections, Bashir Mutyaba, FUFA Football Development Director, said:
‘As part of FUFA Technical Master Plan implementation and also in conjunction with the FIFA Talent Development Scheme, FUFA is going to establish a School of Excellence that will act as training centres in the country. We are going to have eight centres across the country, one per FUFA region. Then four schools for the girls that we are going to combine: West Nile and Northern, North Eastern and Eastern, Kampala and Buganda, then Kitara and Western.’
‘We believe that this is a programme that will help in nurturing talent, creating an environment, a talent development environment for the identified players as it is in our Technical Master Plan to create an environment that is suitable for development of elite players.’
The inspections were led by the FUFA Football Development Director Bashir Mutyaba together with Joan Namusisi, FUFA Mass Football Manager.
