Kawempe Muslims’ title defence hopes have almost but faded and will seemingly be playing for pride when they visit table leaders Kampala Queens who have a 9 point advantage with just 3 games to go this Saturday at the MTN Omondi stadium Lugogo.
Anything less than three points would hand the ‘Queens of Soccer’ their second title in 3 years and seal off Kawempe’s defence remaining with only the FUFA Women’s Cup as hope for silverware. With 14 wins and 5 draws Kampala Queens are enjoying a having a dream season that may end in an unbeaten run if they were to avoid defeat in their last 3 fixtures (kawempe inclusive) a feat no team has achieved in the league format.
Olila HS WFC will play against Uganda Martyrs ladies hoping for the best result to improve their chances of playing in the top tier women league next season. The Soroti based side sits in 10th place with 18 points and only 3 above 11th placed Tooro Queens who occupy the last relegation spot to the FUFA Women Elite league.
The ‘Kiddawalime ladies’ on the other hand in 7th place with 23 points they are just one point above 8th placed Rines SS WFC and 9th placed She Maroons who are tied on 22 points. A win on the other hand could see them leapfrog 6th placed She Corporates on 24 points and 5th placed Makerere University WFC with 25 points if they both fail to win their respective games.
She Maroons hosts 3rd placed Amus College WFC who want to close gap on 2nd placed Kawempe Muslim in case they falter against the table leaders. Amus with 34 points is 4 less of Kawempe’s 38.
On Sunday, She Corporates will be home to Rines SS WFC in another contest for places on the table whereas 4th placed Lady Doves FC who are one point behind Amus College WFC want to keep pace with the leading pack if they can get maximum points off their hosts at the Makerere University grounds.
Tooro Queens face a real Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League relegation test when they visit the already condemned Wakiso Hill at the St Mary’s stadium in Kitende. The Queens from Fort Portal face a team that has not managed a single victory in the 16 matches so far played managing only 5 draws and losing a damning 14 fixtures.
It is set to be seen if the Wakiso based school side can register their first win from the three games left to the end of the season.
