Uganda Cranes Team departs for Kitgum ahead of Northern Regional Tour

Uganda Cranes delegation has on Wednesday morning left for Kitgum town ahead of the Northern region tour match set for Thursday, 4th November 2021 at Boma playground.

The delegation was led by the head coach Milutin Sredojevic alongside members of the technical staff, FUFA referees’ manager Samuel Egesa and the event organizers Kibo Media officials.

‘We are embarking on the preparations for the two final group E matches of the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers at home against Kenya and away to Mali. The Northern region tour is further assessment to the local legion of players on the Uganda Cranes team’ Micho revealed moments before departure as he briefed the players at Cranes Paradise Hotel, Kisaasi.

The traveling team has some additions to replace the injured players. The new faces originally not summoned include KCCA defenders John Revita and Geofrey Wasswa.

Samuel Kayongo Ssekamatte of Arua Hill Sports Club replaces the injured URA striker Cromwell Rwothomio and the on-form KCCA forward Davis Kasirye comes in for Yunus Sentamu.

The 23 man squad has locally based players in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League with three goalkeepers, seven defenders, eight midfielders and five forwards.

The tour is part of Uganda Cranes preparations for the final two games in group E of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at home against Kenya on 11th November and away to Mali on 14th November 2021.

Last month, the Uganda Cranes played the Eastern region select team at the Mbale Municipal Stadium and won 1-0 courtesy of Joackiam Ojera’s goal.
