Saidi Kyeyune’s 35 yarder goal was a moment to remember for Uganda Cranes who had leveled the scores against Togo in a Group C encounter at Stade de la Reunification in Douala on Friday night.
The match ended 2-1 in favor of Togo to pick their first set of points at the tournament. It is the first time the Togolese are featuring in the tournament.

The Cranes suffered defeat after conceding a goal following a deflected headed ball by defender Paul Patrick Mbowa that was followed by another great goal from Richard Nane with a sweet looping volley that beat goalkeeper Charles Lukwago.
Uganda’s fifth successive appearance at the tournament has seen them collect one point so far which came against Rwanda. However their further stay at the tournament will be determined only if they win against Morocco in their final group match on Tuesday 26th January 2021.
Head coach Johnathan McKinstry is well aware that his boys are crestfallen but believes that the only hope left is for the team to win against the title holders and remain in Cameroon for the latter stages of the tournament.

‘As a nation our target is still to go deep into the tournament. If we can reproduce our display showed against Togo especially in the second half and add more quality in the final third we can get a result against Morocco. So when that happens, we will be off to the quarterfinals and aiming forever. I know people are disappointed now as everyone is after a loss but we have to get our heads up and know that we have the quality to go cause Morocco problems’
