The South Sudanese U20 National Women football team arrived in Kampala this Thursday morning but rejected to be accommodated by FUFA and opted for a private arrangement.
The move by the South Sudanese guests is perhaps intended to avoid meeting the FIFA/CAF penalties for denying the Ugandan delegation accommodation in Juba during the first leg match. The tournament rules provide that the hosting nation must accommodate, feed and avail internal transport for the visiting team.
The Ugandan team remained stranded at Juba International Airport for over 4 hours as no information related to their accommodation was available till fresh arrangements had to be done from Kampala.
The federation has already notified the relevant football authorities for compensation of lost funds. We had also incurred costs in booking for their stay at Grand Global Hotel in Makerere. They are currently residing at SHINE Hotel in Kansanga on a private arrangement.
The Saturday match will be handled by a set of Rwandese female referees led by M/s Tuyishime Angelique and Mukansange Salma as the standby referee. M/s Murangwa Sandrine and M/s Ingabire Francine are the first and second assistant referees respectively. These are expected in Kampala on Friday morning aboard Rwanda Air.
The match Commissioner M/s. Atieno Maqulate arrives two hours earlier than her referees. The Pre-Match meeting will be conducted at FUFA Headquarters here in Mengo on Friday at 6:00pm (Local Time).
