AFCON U17 Finals: Uganda to play rivals Tanzania in Group A

Group A: Tanzania, Angola, Nigeria and Uganda

Group B: Guinea, Cameroon, Senegal and Morocco 

Uganda National U-17 Team (Cubs) has been drawn on Thursday in Group A alongside hosts Tanzania, Angola and Nigeria  ahead of the Total U-17 Africa Cup of Nations Finals.

The draw  was conducted at Mlimani City Conference Centre in Dar es Salam, Tanzania-the hosts of the tournament.

Uganda will enter the tournament bouyed by their great record on Tanzania soil having beaten the hosts in the semifinals of the CAF Regional Qualifiers. Uganda won 3-1 against Tanzania in the last four stage.

Uganda U-17 Head coach Peter Onen;

‘We shall prepare well enough to get the best results. I trust my team has been looking forward to the draw. The fans in Tanzania will be out to enjoy another brand of great football from the Champions Uganda as they face Angola and Nigeria. We know Tanzania will be seeking revenge against my boys on the pitch but we know how to handle such situations that come with pressure’

The AFCON U17 Finals are set for 14-28 April 2019. The teams that make the semifinal stage will all qualify for the FIFA U17 World Cup finals to be hosted by Peru in 2019.

The FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo also attended the draw as he was delegated by CAF President Ahmad Ahmad to represent him at the draw. Magogo is also a CAF Executive Member.
