FTBFWSL: Title Race Intensifies as Matchday 17 Takes Centre Stage

The Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League returns with Matchday 17 this weekend, with three fixtures scheduled for Saturday and three on Sunday as the title race gathers momentum and teams continue their push for key positions on the table. With only a point separating the top two sides, focus will be firmly on league leaders Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC and second-placed She Corporate FC, whose respective fixtures could significantly influence the direction of the title race.

Action on Saturday begins at Mutessa II stadium where St Noa Girls FC host Asubo Ladies FC. St Noa will be targeting consistency as they look to climb further up the table, while Asubo Ladies FC remain in search of a breakthrough result to boost their survival hopes.

In Soroti, Olila H/S WFC welcome Uganda Martyrs H/S WFC at Olila Ground. Uganda Martyrs will be keen to make the long trip count with maximum points, while Olila continue their search for a first win and improved performances.

At MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, defending champions Kampala Queens FC take on She Maroons FC in one of the standout fixtures of the day. Kampala Queens will be looking to build momentum following their return to winning ways, while She Maroons, who claimed victory in the reverse fixture will aim to complete a double against the defending champions.

Sunday’s action shifts attention firmly to the title race. At Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium, Rines SS WFC host She Corporate FC in a tactically demanding encounter. Rines have been one of the most resilient sides in the second round, remaining unbeaten and showing strong defensive organisation. Their compact shape, discipline without the ball, and ability to limit space in central areas make them difficult to break down. For She Corporate, this fixture will require greater attacking precision and control in possession. Their ability to progress play through midfield, increase tempo in the final third, and make effective use of wide areas will be key to unlocking Rines’ defensive structure. At the same time, they must remain alert in transition, as Rines have shown they can capitalise on lapses. With the title race finely balanced, She Corporate cannot afford dropped points, making this one of the defining fixtures of the weekend.

League leaders Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC host Lady Doves FC at Kawempe Muslim Ground in a crucial fixture at the top of the table. Kawempe have demonstrated game management and the ability to deliver in key moments, as seen in their dramatic comeback victory in the previous fixture. Against Lady Doves, the warriors are expected to rely on their structured build-up play, coordinated pressing, and control of midfield spaces. Their ability to dictate tempo and create overloads in wide areas could be central to breaking down the opposition. However, they must remain disciplined, particularly in defensive transitions, against a Lady Doves side that comes in with confidence and will look to exploit any gaps. With such a narrow margin at the top, Kawempe’s ability to maintain composure and efficiency in both boxes could prove decisive. Any slip-up could open the door for She Corporate, adding further significance to their performance.

At Nsibirwa Ground, Makerere University WFC take on Amus College WFC. Makerere will be looking to bounce back from their previous defeat, while Amus will aim to build on their recent strong performance despite falling short last time out.
