Uganda U20 Women’s National Team will look to overturn the first leg loss to Ghana as the two teams face off in the return leg of the fourth round of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers on Saturday in Cape Coast.
The Black Princesses nicked a 2-1 win at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende last month and the winner on aggregate will advance to the next stage to face Ethiopia who eliminated Tanzania 2-1 on aggregate.
Coach Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi is confident the team is in perfect shape and ready to turn the tables going into Saturday’s encounter.
“We are ready and the players are physically and mentally okay. We have tried to motivate them in the last few days and also worked on the mistakes committed in the first leg,” he said before adding.
“We made analysis of the first game and knew where we went wrong. Those are the areas we have put emphasis in trying and I’m confident we can get a good result to send us to the next level.”
The team I boosted with the return of striker Juliet Nalukenge who missed the first leg through illness.
The gaffer confides that Nalukenge’s availability could be key in pursuit for goals give the fact that Uganda needs to score to stand any chance.
Captain Fauzia Najjemba who scored the consolation in the first leg is also optimistic that Uganda has the ability to eliminate Ghana on the road.
“It was disappointing that we couldn’t win at home but the result is now behind us. We know what is required and definitely we shall give our best on Saturday.”
