
The FUFA Ordinary General Assembly sitting here at Jinja Nile Resort Hotel this Saturday August 31 has bestowed the title of the Honorary FUFA President to the outgoing FUFA President Lawrence Mulindwa.
Mulindwa becomes the first former President of FUFA to achieve the title. Northern region delegate and FUFA Executive Committee member Dr. Patrick Benard Ogwel carried the proposal to the floor and was unanimously supported by all de legates.
“Mr. Mulindwa has sacrificed so much for Ugandan football and he leaves our games far better than he found it. From the 128th position in the World FIFA rankings to 77th. He deserves this honorary title” Ogwel moved.
The act was within the provisions of the FUFA statutes Article 18 (i) which states that the General Assembly may bestow the title of honorary President or honorary member upon any persons for meritorious service to football”.
In his acceptance speech outgoing FUFA President Lawrence Mulindwa hailed the house for showing appreciation for his contributions towards football in this country. He emphasized his earlier position of remaining supporting to the game even after his exit.
