The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) met the clubs plying their trade in the top flight under the FUFA Super League and presented to them the current status of the ongoing negotiations with government and Uganda Super League with the intention of bringing back and attracting more sponsors to football.
All the 16 clubs were represented in the meeting held at FUFA headquarters in Mengo.
The president of FUFA Engineer Moses Magogo chaired the meeting.
Here are highlights from the meeting:
1- The president revealed that there are ongoing negotiations at initial stages which could lead to sponsorship for the top flight in the country. USL, FUFA and Government are playing a key role in the negotiations.
2-Clubs welcomed the idea and blessed the federation to go ahead with negotiations as long as the football regulations are adhered to and assurance that the funds will get down to the clubs in a transparent manner
3- Two officials Mr. Mike Okua-(KCC FC Chairman) and Simo Dubajic (SCVU Chairman) were selected to join the negotiation team.
4-Despite being a detailed discussion, the clubs advised that the details of the negotiations will only be revealed to the public after conclusive decisions have been reached.
5- FUFA and the clubs are positive that the negotiations will yield good results
6-Negotiations will continue this week.
