Hundreds of passionate football fans graced the Uganda Cranes last training session ahead of the much anticipated match against a select team from the Kitara region on Sunday afternoon.

After arriving in Fort Portal on Saturday afternoon, the team was warmly welcomed as they were ushered in at Kalya Courts hotel.

Fans from all walks of life attended the training session for the Uganda Cranes at Buhinga stadium, Fort Portal

The players and accompanying officials checked in at hotel, had lunch and rested for some hours before they headed to the training session that lasted for close to one and a half hours.

At the Buhinga stadium (the same facility that will host the match), the team was treated to thunderous welcome by the enthusiastic supporters who were excited to see some of the players and officials they normally see and read about in the media.

“This is my chance of a life time to see the Uganda Crane live in Buhinga, Fort Portal. It had always been my dream to see Hassan Wasswa, Emma Okwi and Coach Micho with the other players also. This is really good. I thank FUFA and the sponsors for making this a reality? Is Onyango also coming?” Esther Rwabogo, said with an ear to ear smile.

Coach Micho with the assistants Moses Basena and Fred Kajoba (Goalkeeping coach) took the players through the paces with ball work sessions meant to acclimatize them to the green though bumpy surface.

All the players responded well in the session and are fit for the big match day on Sunday evening.

The Uganda Cranes team will face a select side of the Kitara region at the Buhinga stadium.

The previous tour in the same region had been at the Boma Stadium in Masindi two years ago, with the national team winning 5-0 on the day.

The tours are meant to take the national team brand closer to the people in their respective localities other than at the home of the Uganda Cranes – Mandela National stadium, Namboole.
