U-17 Total CAF Africa Cup of Nations Zonal Qualifiers

It is exactly a month to the kick-off of the U-17 Total CAF Africa Cup of Nations Zonal CECAFA Qualifiers in Rwanda.
The Uganda Cubs will be looking at securing a ticket to the finals of 2021 U17 AFCON in Morocco.
The feat will be determined by their success at the CECAFA Zonal Championship in Rwanda this December will determine their destiny.
Uganda is looking at securing a ticket to the second successive finals running.
In their last attempt, Uganda qualified for the finals that were held in Tanzania last year after beating Ethiopia 3-1 in the Zonal qualifiers final.
Hamza Lutalo the head coach is confident Uganda has what it takes to put up a decent display.

‘We are preparing pretty well at Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru and the team is in good shape. Am so positive we have the right players with exceptional talent around us whom we shall select from the final 20 who will travel to Rwanda for the competition. My confidence is high according to how players are responding to the training. All the 35 players were taken through the MRI and we hope to get all their results by close of business today before reducing the number further to twenty five.’ Lutalo disclosed.


According to the regional football governing body CECAFA, the U-17 qualifiers will take place in Rwanda from 13 – 28 December 2020.
The U-17 qualifiers will attract 9 countries divided into three groups.
Hosts Rwanda are pitted with Eritrea and South Sudan in group A.
The reigning champions Uganda are in group B with Ethiopia and Kenya dubbed to be group of death.
Group C has of Sudan, Djibouti and Tanzania.
