The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is proud to announce the national tour of the new FUFA Women Super League trophy, themed ‘A Trophy with a Soul: Seeking Your Blessing for Uganda’s Football Daughters’. This initiative aims to promote women’s football, foster unity and encourage support for the sport’s development.
Led by FUFA 3rd Vice President, Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi and FUFA Deputy Executive Secretary Competitions, Rogers Mulindwa, the tour will feature former league winners sharing their experiences and the significance of the national women’s league trophy.
The FUFA delegation will visit prominent and influential women in Uganda, showcasing FUFA’s projects and initiatives in women’s football.
Five players who have won the league previously and still playing will be part of the tour. The players selected are; Catherine Nakiridde (UCU Lady Cardinals-2018/19), Lydia Nyandera (Lady Doves 2020), Aminah Nakato (She Corporate 2021/22), Zaina Namuleme now with Makerere University Women FC (formerly with Kampala2022/23) and Krusum Namutebi (Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC). They will deliver a message about the importance of women’s football from a player’s perspective.

CAF trained safety and security officer Harriet Nakimbugwe will oversee the trophy’s stewardship and security protocols during the tour.
Hon. Nakiwala Kiyingi emphasised, ‘This trophy is not just a reward; it is a celebration of the spirit and brilliance of women in football. As we raise this emblem of achievement, we also raise our commitment to the growth of the women’s game in Uganda.’
The tour kicks off today, 15th May, 2025 with visits to MTN, Nation Media Group and Vision Group. By promoting women’s football, FUFA aims to inspire more women and girls to participate in the sport, develop their skills, and become role models for future generations.
The champions of the 2024/25 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League season will be awarded this trophy at the end of the season.
About the new FUFA Women Super League Trophy
The trophy features a striking figurine of a woman in athletic achievement, symbolizing strength, elegance and the rising spirit of women’s football in Uganda.
The trophy stands at 455mm tall and is gold-coated, representing excellence and triumph.
At its heart is a striking figurine of a woman poised in athletic achievement, lifting a ball high above her head. Her posture exudes power and confidence, with her front leaning slightly outward and her back curving gently inward, reflecting both strength and poise. Her arms rise in a V-shape, holding the ball in a symbolic gesture of victory and ambition.
The trophy’s design elements symbolise victory, ambition, determination and raw talent, reflecting the spirit and brilliance of women in football.
