FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim congratulates Gianni Infantino on 10-year milestone

FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim has congratulated FIFA President Gianni Infantino upon reaching ten years in charge of FIFA, noting that his leadership has significantly transformed the global game.

Hon. Magogo said that the milestone was not only a moment to celebrate President Infantino but also FIFA, whose programmes have greatly benefited member associations such as FUFA.

‘On the occasion of celebrating 10 years of President Gianni Infantino, who came and turned around the wheel, I take this opportunity to congratulate him, but most importantly to congratulate FIFA as beneficiaries of the different programmes,’ he said.

He highlighted that through the FIFA Forward programme, FUFA has been able to expand FUFA House with an additional floor and secure more office space to accommodate staff, as well as commence the FUFA Stadium Kadiba project.

‘We have been able to extend the original building of FUFA House by another floor and also acquire additional office space to accommodate more staff. We have also started the FUFA Stadium Kadiba, which is now hosting a number of international matches for junior and women’s teams,’ he noted.

He further stated that the Talent Development Scheme has strengthened talent identification and coach education in Uganda, while women’s football has equally benefited through direct support.

‘We have benefited from the Talent Development Scheme in talent identification and training of coaches. Women’s football has also grown, with support to the FUFA Women Super League and provision of medical equipment to all 12 clubs, as well as introduction of the game in districts such as Yumbe and Maracha,’ he added.

Hon. Magogo also pointed out the expansion of football in schools across the country.

‘Football in schools has now reached 362 schools across Uganda and we believe these programmes are going to turn around football,’ he said.

On the global stage, he observed that the expansion of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup has created new opportunities for Uganda.

‘We have been able to qualify for a tournament we had never reached before and progressed to the Round of 16, beating strong teams such as France. This exposure is already creating opportunities for our young players in Europe,’ he remarked.

He also commended the decision to make the tournament an annual event.

‘Making it an annual competition is one of the best decisions that will transform football globally,’ he noted.

Hon. Magogo concluded by expressing gratitude to FIFA and President Infantino.

‘For us, FIFA and President Gianni Infantino, we can only say thank you so much, and we believe that football is going to be truly global,’ he concluded.
