FTBFWSL: Kawempe, She Corporate Face Tricky Away Tests as Title Race Nears Defining Stage On Matchday 19

The Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League continues with Matchday 19 this weekend, with two fixtures lined up for Saturday and three on Sunday as the title race and battle for positions across the table enter a decisive phase.

With just four matches remaining, focus remains firmly on league leaders Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC and second-placed She Corporate FC, who are separated by a single point and both face challenging away fixtures that could significantly influence the direction of the title race.

Action on Saturday begins in Soroti, where Olila H/S WFC host She Corporate FC at Olila Ground. Despite their position at the bottom of the table and yet to register a win this season, Olila have shown signs of resilience and remain capable of unsettling opponents, particularly with their compact defensive structure and willingness to compete in key moments.

For She Corporate, this fixture demands control, patience, and attacking precision. The Sharks have consistently relied on structured build-up play and quick combinations in advanced areas, with Jesca Namanda continuing to provide the cutting edge in the final third. Leading the scoring charts with 14 goals, her movement, positioning, and composure will be central to breaking down an Olila side expected to defend deep. However, She Corporate must remain alert throughout, as any lapse in concentration could allow Olila to capitalise, especially in transition situations.

In Lubaga, Uganda Martyrs H/S Lubaga WFC host Asubo Ladies FC at St Gerald Playground. Uganda Martyrs will look to assert themselves and maintain consistency, particularly in controlling midfield spaces and managing the tempo of the game. Asubo, on the other hand, remain under pressure in the lower end of the table and will approach the fixture with urgency, aiming to tighten defensively and maximise any opportunities in attack as they search for valuable points.

Sunday’s action shifts attention to key fixtures across the table, headlined by Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC’s trip to Nsibirwa Ground to face Makerere University WFC. This fixture carries added significance, with Makerere being the only side to have defeated Kawempe this season following their 2-0 victory earlier in the campaign.

Makerere have traditionally posed challenges for Kawempe, often relying on defensive discipline, compactness, and effective transitions to disrupt their opponents. Their ability to limit central spaces and force play into less dangerous areas makes them a difficult side to break down.

For Kawempe, the approach will likely focus on structured build-up play, effective use of wide areas, and sustained attacking pressure. Latifah Nakasi remains key to their attacking threat, with 13 goals highlighting her importance in front of goal. Her positioning and finishing ability will be crucial in capitalising on limited chances. In addition, Dorcus Kisakye’s role in midfield will be vital in dictating tempo and unlocking defensive lines through precise distribution. Kawempe have shown throughout the season their ability to manage difficult fixtures, but this encounter presents another stern test of their title credentials.

Elsewhere, Kampala Queens FC host Amus College WFC at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo. Kampala Queens will aim to respond positively and regain momentum, relying on improved efficiency in possession and better decision-making in the final third. Amus College, meanwhile, have demonstrated resilience and organisation, and will look to remain compact while exploiting opportunities on the counter.

At Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Rines SS WFC take on Lady Doves FC in a fixture expected to be closely contested. Rines have built their performances on defensive discipline and structure, often making it difficult for opponents to create clear chances. Lady Doves, on the other hand, will look to impose themselves through controlled attacking play and improved movement in the final third as both sides seek to finish the season strongly.

Beyond the team objectives, the race for the Golden Boot continues to provide added intrigue. Jesca Namanda leads the standings with 14 goals, closely followed by Latifah Nakasi on 13. Catherine Nagadya remains in contention with 10 goals, while Resty Kobusoboozi and Agnes Nabukenya, both on eight goals, continue to keep within reach as the season approaches its conclusion.
