FTBFWSL: Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC complete double over She Corporate FC to reclaim top spot

Matchday 15 of the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League concluded with Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC reclaiming the top spot after a commanding 2–0 victory over She Corporate FC in a highly anticipated encounter.

The match experienced a delayed kickoff due to a heavy downpour, forcing both teams to wait nearly 30 minutes before play could begin.

The opening exchanges started at a high intensity, with both sides showing attacking intent. She Corporate almost made the perfect start when Jesca Namanda struck the crossbar with a powerful effort in the second minute. However, Kawempe quickly regrouped and began to settle into their rhythm.

The breakthrough came in the 9th minute when Jovia Nakagolo capitalised on a lapse in possession from Lukiya Namubiru in defence. Nakagolo showed great composure to finish calmly and give the Valley Warriors an early advantage.

After taking the lead, Kawempe showed impressive tactical discipline, particularly in their defensive organisation. The Valley Warriors maintained a compact shape that made it difficult for She Corporate to penetrate through the middle. Their central defenders stayed tight and coordinated, cutting off passing lanes and forcing the visitors to rely on long balls and shots from distance. Kawempe’s centre-backs Nakimera Sharifa and Hadijah Babirye effectively contained She Corporate’s main attacking threat, Jesca Namanda, limiting her influence for the remainder of the game after her early chance.

The midfield also played a key role by pressing quickly whenever possession was lost and preventing She Corporate from building sustained attacking moves. This disciplined approach ensured that the visitors created very few clear-cut opportunities.

The Sharks attempted to respond through Sumayah Komuntale, who came close from a free kick, but her effort sailed over the bar. Goalkeeper Saidat Namwanje further strengthened Kawempe’s defensive resolve with confident handling and timely interventions throughout the game.

In the second half, Namwanje produced a crucial save to deny Rebecca Nakato, preserving Kawempe’s lead at an important stage of the match.

Kawempe nearly doubled their advantage when Latifa Nakasi found space inside the area, but her shot drifted inches wide of the target. The visitors’ situation worsened when goalkeeper Molly Naava was sent off for handling the ball outside the penalty area.

With the numerical advantage, Kawempe continued to press forward and eventually sealed the victory. Substitute Kevin Nanyunja calmly finished from a well-weighted cross by Jovia Nakagolo to make it 2–0 and secure all three points for the Valley Warriors.

The result completes a league double for Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC over She Corporate FC this season and sends the Valley Warriors back to the top of the table as the competition enters its decisive final stretch.

Speaking after the match, Kawempe head coach Ayub Khalifa emphasised the importance of mentality going into the game.

‘We knew we had to win to get back to the top of the table. Like in the first leg, we approached the game wanting to win. It is a good boost for us heading into the coming games.’

Elsewhere on Matchday 15, Makerere University WFC secured a narrow 1–0 victory over She Maroons FC at the Nsibirwa Ground, while Lady Doves FC and Amus College WFC played out a goalless draw at Katusabe Ground in Masindi.
