Uganda U17 Women’s National Team is set to face rivals Ethiopia in the first leg
of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende this Friday.
Head Coach Ayub Khalifa and Captain Shakira Nyinagahirwa expressed their readiness to take on the horn of Africa rivals.
At the press briefing held on Thursday morning at FUFA Complex in Mengo, Coach Ayub Khalifa said that although his team majorly comprises of inexperienced players, they have prepared them in all aspects to get positive results.

”The team is mainly comprised of young players who are not exposed. We have done our best to prepare them in all aspects of the game. We are glad that the team also has some experienced players who have been with the U20 whom we shall build the team on.” Said the coach.
He also added that they have done enough homework against the opponents, building from the previous encounters both at the U17 and U20 level.

”We have played against Ethiopia in the U20 and it is a good team but we have done our homework and certain that we shall register positive results at home before we go for the return leg.”
Team Captain Shakira Nyinagahirwa praised the technical team for the great work done to prepare the players for the encounter.

”Players are ready to take on Ethiopia because the coaches have done their best during the training sessions and the time we have spent in camp and we are ready to get the best results. Our main objective is to eliminate Ethiopia but we have to focus on each game starting with this one.” She indicated.
