Defending Champions Kenya marched to the semifinals of the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup after a successful 2-1 win over Sudan in the second match of group B at the StarTimes Stadium Lugogo on Tuesday.

Muhamed Abbas got the lead for Sudan in the 30th minute But Kenyan midfielder Hassan Abdallah who came from the bench pulled back an equalizer in the 65th minute.

Oscar Wamalwa doubled the lead for the Harambe Stars a few minutes later to hand them a place in the semis.

In the last match of the day, Tanzania received the first maximum points in Group B after edging rivals Zanzibar in a closer match that had several opportunities on both sides.

Ditram Nchimbi Adgan scored the only goal of the game from a tap in that ended Kilimanjaro Stars’ winless drought in the 38th minute.

Both teams returned in the second half with abundant hopes of having the ball in the back of the net however, the last 45 minutes ended in a barren score.

Kenya now leads Group A with 6 points followed by Tanzania with 4 points. Sudan has 1 point while Zanzibar Comes last with 1 point and negative one goal difference.

Action resumes today (Wednesday) with Burundi playing against Djibouti.
